Mani Monday || Maybelline - Fuchsia Fever

For today's Mani Monday, I am continuing on with the Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquers. There's one more left after today. Unless I buy some more but I don't see that happening in the near future. I have more nail polishes I want/need to wear for the first time ! Anyway, the shade that I'm sporting today is called, Fuchsia Fever.

When I first saw this color and it's name, I thought, "That's not fuchsia at all." In my eyes, it was more of like a medium purple. Therefore, I think I should do a few different color descriptions. At first sight of the bottle it's in, it looks like a purple-y color with hints of pink. Then when I applied the first coat, it was a fuchsia. A true fuchsia. But it was a sheer fuchsia. It wasn't fully opaque and I wanted it to look like the color it is in the bottle. That's when I applied the second coat and it was a shade darker. Still fuchsia but just a tad darker. Again, I was not fully satisfied with its opacity so I applied a third coat and on that third coat, it just became an even deeper shade of fuchsia with a tad bit of a purple hue.
This is 4 coats with flash ! See how different it is from the bottle?
I then applied a fourth coat out of curiosity and ended up very close to what the color looked like in the bottle. It finally looked a lot more purple-y but the majority of the color was still fuchsia. If that makes sense? The color looked pretty "vampy". You know, like those lip colors but on the nails. As for the formula, not very impressed but I'm not entirely disappointed either. It wasn't streaky but it just took forever to get it to look almost the way I expected it to appear. It dries to a semi-matte finish. I don't find it completely matte but some people may. If you expect this polish to look like the Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Fuchsia Fever, you might be disappointed >.<
This is four coats again but with natural lighting.
Overall, it's an okay shade for me. I don't recommend it but I don't not recommend it. I'm very so-so about it. So if you want to give this a try go for it. It's definitely not a summer color. Although I thought maybe I could rock it like it is one. More of a fall shade to me. But then again, I don't abide by seasonal fashion rules ;)

Mani Monday || Maybelline - Sweet Clementine

Oh, how cute is the name of this nail polish ! It's why I bought it. Sweet Clementine. Well, I basically bought this because I don't have a straight up orange nail polish. And this color is perfect !
I know what you may be thinking. When I first applied this, Halloween was the first thing that I thought of. This is a perfect stereotype color for halloween. Sweet Clementine is a true orange. It's the kind of orange that you would find in a crayon box. However, I do feel it leans a little neon. But it may just be me.
This polish took 3 coats to get its full opacity. It was so so. The more of these Color Show nail lacquers I try, the more coats I have to apply ! Lol. Despite the thought of halloween, this is a very nice summer color anyway.
Photo taken with Flash.
I believe Maybelline has released this same exact color before, but it was Limited Edition and it was with their express finish line. I've googled it up and it's practically the same color. As for the formula of it, I'm not sure because I don't own the other one. Duh ! Lol :)
No Flash/Natural Lighting
Overall, this color may not be for everyone. I really don't hear many people talk about orange nail colors. But if you want to step out of your comfort zone this one is worth checking out. If you are very into the current neon trend that is happening, this is very nice as well.

Mani Monday || Maybelline - Audacious Asphalt

This week's nail color is Maybelline's Audacious Asphalt. Yes, you read that right. It has the same exact name as one of the 24 hour color tattoo. However, I think this polish looks nothing like the color tattoo nor does it look like asphalt. The roads around where I live were recently replaced with some nice looking asphalt and this looks nothing like it.

This color is a very light cool grey. I love it. It's not a typical summer color but it still looks great under the sun. It's more of an autumn color, if you want to get all seasonal. All the pictures are of the nail polish on my nails with 2 coats.

One coat just didn't do the trick. The second did it for me. Again, I think a third coat would've gone better but I didn't really have the patience. And I was already happy with the results of just two coats.
I do have to say that I was a bit disappointed when I first applied this on because it was quite streaky. I think that was another reason why I neglected a third coat. I didn't want the streakiness of the polish to be so obvious.
The picture above is with flash and the picture below is natural lighting.

Overall, this is a fantastic nail lacquer especially for the price. If you didn't know yet, these polishes are a bit over $2. If you're into grey or even taupe polishes, definitely give Audacious Asphalt a try.

Mani Monday || Maybelline - Shocking Seas

I want to start a series called, "Mani Monday." Lately, I have had a consistent habit of painting my nails every sunday. I'm so proud of me that I've been at it so regularly. Last week, I had Orly's Glowstick on my nails, this week I have Maybelline Color Show in Shocking Seas. I'm so excited to start testing out these new Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquers :D
Shocking Seas is a medium blue. It's kind of turquoise but at the same time it's not the kind of turquoise we usually sea. Does that make sense? I have asked about 5 different people what kind of blue this is and all of them said, "I don't know" and I say "I don't know either!" But seriously, I don't know how to describe this color. Maybe a deepened turquoise blue? I think that's what I'll go with.
On me, these lasted about 4 days before I noticed some minor chipping, It wasn't until the sixth day when major chipping occurred and I took it off the seventh day. Like all blue polishes similar to this, it stained my nails. No surprise there. I know I should use a base coat but I'm always too lazy to.
I would say this is a great nail polish for summer and a great pop of color kind of thing for the fall. I feel like this has an autumn vibe, don't you think? I'll be honest, I didn't like it on my nails at first and then, I fell in love. I really like this color. It gave me no problems. It was opaque in two coats for me but some people may want to add a third coat. You know, just in case.
I did notice that in person, I feel like this makes my hands look a bit tanner. I don't know if it's because of the weather or if I got a tan (which I know I don't have one yet *sigh*). But yea, in some lights, I feel like it makes my hands look tanner and in some lighting, it makes them lighter. So confusing.
Overall, I recommend this shade. So far, I'm very impressed with the new Color Show line. This shade reminds me so much of the beach. Wow! What a very fitting name for this nail polish. Shocking Seas.

Until Next Time,
-Justine

p.s. Sorry for posting more than just one nail swatch. I get too crazy with the camera when I take pictures, then I can't decide which one I like best when I post them so post multiple shots >.<
